Fourth Month

Your little one has started giggling, and you forget the nappy changes and feeds

Growth Milestone:

-          Your baby is starting to sit with the support of her hands or a pillow.

-          She's also beginning to reach out for objects.

-          She's becoming more aware of her surroundings and connecting the sight of things with pleasure – your face with warmth, the breast or bottle with nourishment.

Responses:

Cries are now more deliberate. She may pause between sobs to see whether you're coming to the rescue. She may also cough or squeal to elicit a response. She will now enjoy bath times, with her toys floating in the tub and watch the bubbles float through the air.

Bonding:

As a newborn, she would only respond to black and white and high-contrast colors, but now she can distinguish all the shades of the rainbow. Its time to start placing her in the play gym or a blanket with scattered toys around. Encourage her to reach out and start rolling towards them.
